Hearing Screening Check

Following an ear examination, the hearing screen check, called pure tone audiometry, takes place in a soundproofed hearing booth or personal sound enclosure. The audiologist will place ear tips into your ears and ask you to respond when you hear various tones at different frequencies. Each ear is tested separately. The results are then plotted on a chart called an audiogram. The results are explained, and if there is any significant hearing loss detected, then a further appointment is recommended for a full audiological assessment.
